Vessel history
built on public record.
HullTrace makes the history of any US-registered boat transparent and accessible. We aggregate federal and state vessel data so buyers can make informed decisions — without paying dealer prices for basic facts.
Why we built this
The used boat market has a transparency problem. Sellers aren't required to disclose prior accidents, salvage events, or open safety recalls. Dealers often don't know the full history themselves. And the existing services that try to fill this gap charge $40 for data that is — in many cases — publicly available from federal and state sources.
HullTrace normalizes, deduplicates, and cross-references data from USCG, state DMVs, CPSC, and NCIC to produce a single coherent vessel record. Free lookups cover registration status, make, model, and year. A full history report — title chain, liens, accidents, salvage, stolen flag, and open recalls — is $15.
Data sources
Every record in HullTrace originates from a government source. We do not collect or resell user data.
HullTrace aggregates data from government sources that may be incomplete, delayed, or contain errors. Reports should be used as one input in a purchase decision — not as a substitute for a professional marine survey. HullTrace is not affiliated with or endorsed by the US Coast Guard.
